Income Preparation Tool

YTD Gross Monthly Income Calculator.

Turn the year-to-date gross pay shown on a paystub into an estimated gross monthly and annual income before discussing income for vehicle financing.

Calculate a gross monthly estimate

Use the gross pay and dates printed on the paystub and verified employment record. Check date is required for reference, but it does not change the formula.

Use year-to-date gross pay before taxes and deductions—not net pay.

Use the verified employment start date.

Use the ending date printed on the paystub.

Required for reference only. The calculation ends on the pay-period end date.

Do not enter a name, Social Security number, account number, or other identifying information. The values stay in your browser and are not stored or submitted to Simplified Auto, HubSpot, or analytics.

Enter all four required paystub values, then calculate to see the monthly estimate and documented date range.

How This Is Calculated

A visible formula with a documented date range.

The estimate uses the paystub’s YTD gross amount and the calendar days actually represented—not a guessed monthly multiplier.

  1. 01

    Choose the income start date.

The start is the later of January 1 in the paystub year or the verified hire date.

  2. 02

    Calculate average daily gross.

YTD gross pay is divided by calendar days from the income start date through the pay-period end date, inclusive.

  3. 03

    Annualize, then divide by 12.

The daily average is multiplied by 365 or 366 days for the paystub year, then divided by 12.

About This Tool

A free YTD income calculator for car buyers.

This paystub gross monthly income calculator turns year-to-date gross pay into an estimated monthly figure before discussing income for vehicle financing. It also shows annualized gross income, average daily gross, the number of calendar days used, and the exact income period behind the estimate.

Use the result to check your own math and prepare better questions—not to predict approval. A dealership or lender may request multiple paystubs, verify employment, average variable income differently, exclude income that cannot be documented, or apply its own underwriting rules.

The calculator is free, requires no sign-up, and performs the calculation locally in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

What is YTD gross pay?

Year-to-date gross pay is earnings before taxes and deductions from the beginning of the applicable income period through the pay-period end date shown on the paystub.

Why does the calculator use calendar days?

The calculator divides YTD gross pay by the inclusive calendar period represented, then annualizes that daily average using 365 or 366 days and divides by 12.

What if the employee started after January 1?

The income period begins on the verified hire date when it is later than January 1 in the paystub year. That avoids treating a midyear employee as though earnings began on January 1.

Does the check date affect the calculation?

No. The check date is entered only as a required reference. The formula ends on the pay-period end date.

Will every auto lender use this income figure?

Not necessarily. A lender may use different documentation or methods for overtime, commission, bonus, variable, or recently started income.

Does Simplified Auto receive the values entered?

No. The calculation runs locally in the browser. Income amounts and dates are not submitted to Simplified Auto, HubSpot, or analytics.
